rear-view mirror mount
I recently cracked my windshield (thanks to a flying rock). When the windshield replacement guy came to change it out, we noticed that the screw on the rear-view mirror mount was big-time stripped. WIthout a way to remove that screw, the glass guy asked me to order a new mount.
Two questions, what does everybody think about this and if it is what is need, what is the part number? I don't need the whole rear-view, only the mounting mechanism.
Thanks!

judeman, top left corner of your screen will be a "search" field. Enter "rear view miror" and give it a try. I did it just now and came up with a ton of info, use that search field for most questions you have as every possible topic has been discussed over and over and over and over and over (you get the idea?). Now, get reading!

Don't Screw With it.
Leave the screw alone. It does precisely nothing.
Firmly grasp the mount of the mirror in one hand and just YANK IT.
It's designed to pop off with three spring loaded *****. Try not to lose them in the car in case they go flying. If they do, just pop them back on their little mounting cups. Do it with the door closed in case some do go flying.
What's left on the windshield is a small flat base. Transfer this over to the new glass (if it doesn't already come with one).
Unclip the power for the LCD mirror first so you don't yank the harness out of the car.

Thanks CleanSC. I went down there and took a look. Couldn't figure out how to remove the power but I did figure out how to open the mirror and remove it. Then I pryed the mounting mechanism out and I had it all taken care of. Too bad I alredy ordered a whole new mounting set from Carson Toyota!
Thanks for the help everybody.
