Default Time for some rims

The SC's tires are gone and my wife agreed to let me put some rims on it I also said jokingly, "would you ever want to turbo the Lexus?" and she said, "Maybe."! This is awsome considering she wasn't going to let me touch in the beginning. There are two sets that I'm looking into right now. Here is a list of the set-ups I'm considering.

(2) ASA AR1 17" X 7"
(2) ASA AR1 17" X 9"
(2) KUMHO ECSTA SUPRA 712 235/45
(2) KUMHO ECSTA SUPRA 712 265/40
http://www.tirerack.com/servlet/Call...filterSpecial=

(2) KAZERA KZ-A 18" X 8.5"
(2) KAZERA KZ-A 18" X 9.5"
(2) KUMHO ECSTA SUPRA 712 245/40
(2) KUMHO ECSTA SUPRA 712 265/35
http://www.tirerack.com/servlet/Call...filterSpecial=

I don't know exactly how good 17s would look on the SC being that it's such a big car, but they look really good on the tirerack model.

Also, those whom have the Ecsta supra 712s please comment. I've heard pretty good things aobut them and they are amazingly cheap. The only complaints I've heard about them are that they get noisy after they wear.

I haven't had a whole lot of luck finding sites that sell staggered wheel sizes... if anyone could offer some sites I would greatly appreciate it. As far as prices, I'm trying to stay below 2k for the wheel and tire combo.

I see alot of nice looking wheels off from ebay for really cheap, but then again, I also hear some bad stuff about ebay such as cheap stuff, etc. If you go staggered wheels, shouldn't the rear tires have a lower profile series than the front?

Go for it, you can't go wrong with TR. They are great!

I think that if you get 17s then you will look at them and say...I goofed. Those are too small.

It is all personal taste but I think 18s look great on the SC and still have generous sidewall.

19s look spectacular and 20s look too big.

Just get what you are happy with.

I tried a set of Kumho (Isn't this a bad word?) Ecstas. They were very decent for the price.

Yeah, I'd rather not go the ebay route. Oh, and I messed up on the sizes... I meant to put 265/35s. I'll change that so people don't think I'm stupid, lol.

I thought that the 17s might look kind of small, but just for visual aide could some people post pictures of SCs with 17s. Also, feel welcome to suggest wheels that you thyink would look good on the car. The car is Garnett... I think that is what they call it. My wife kind of likes the gunmetal with a polished lip look, so If anyone knows of any nice gunmetal wheels then let me know.

My personal favorite 17 inch wheel setup on a SC400 is the Supra TT wheel. It's clean, tasteful, and can be relatively cheap. Here are some pictures for reference. This is lex400sc's ride. It also clears the supra TT break setup, in case you wanted to do that in the future. Good luck!

If you want 17's, the supea TT wheels will look best on the sc. 18's will be about right if you do alot of driving and 19's will look perfect on the sc. Anything beyond 19's will look too bib, unless you like big wheels.

Definately go with at least 18's, 17's won't look much better than stock.
19's would look sick but are very expensive including the tires.

Good luck with your choice!

Here are the kazeras on my baby.

2) KAZERA KZ-A 18" X 8.5"
(2) KAZERA KZ-A 18" X 9.5"

Got these at Tirerack.com for $1570 shipped to my door!

Got her 3 months ago. The paint is still great on the car. It had 123K miles when i got her. Cost me only $9700 walk-out for this 97 sc300. Anyhow, my next project i think will be a body kit. I would prefer a used turbo but i dont think my budget will permit. Anyhow here are some pics i have just taken.

godspeed,
md

wow, those kazera's look really nice on the sc.

i was looking at those for a while too! i decided against them (for now) because i would be too tempted to do a staggered +lip setup for what would be a winter set of wheels. for me, lips + staggered = summer show off wheels, hehe. instead i'm going with the miglia ev-s 18x8 all around.
