My friend who owns a C5 vette and I were driving down a bay area street and deiced to do a 0-60 experiment w/our cars. I never went full on against the likes of a C5 vette...so we just raced for fun.

MAN..was it FUN!

WE took off at the red light and I actually stayed w/his vette for the first 3 seconds. His car was not getting traction so while it was spinning..I was able to pull even and nose ahead a bit. HOwever, once the C5 got traction...he rocketed past me and ended up 2 car lengths ahead of me afer we both hit 60mph.

He had a bad launch, but I'd say he was at about 5 seconds or so. I had a good launch and was hitting 6 seconds or a bit lower.

WE proceeded to romp up this highway going up a popular bay area hill.

I took off at 110mph...and zoomed up the hill. My friends C5 dropped into 3rd gear and caught me in about 3 seconds and (from 70pmh) and passed me and kept pulling away.

The point was NOT to beat the C5. WE all know that's not possible. But the point was just how close I could get to the C5. I was pleasantly surprised by my old heavy coupe's performance.

The torque converter, intake, and exhaust, help to make the car more nimble.

I've raced a half a dozen GS400's in my time, and I have beaten 4 out of the 6. If I can jump on the GS early, then they have trouble up to 60 with me. HOwever, w/the more powerful 300hp vvti engine, the GS will pass me after 60 and pull away....but the torque conveter makes things interesting fo those first 6 seconds.

Just goes to show HP is no good unless you can use it...
The SC can only take around 250RWHP in 1st gear under dry conditions, anything after that is smoke. 2nd gear is good for around 400+RWHP. I'm not to the point where it breaks loose in 2nd under dry conditions, but close. I'm sure SC300turbo (Jeff) can break them loose in 2nd, though, if he jumped on it hard enough and didn't have anyone in the back seat.

Limited slip, better rubber and weight and balance are the only way to better launches.

We have a automatic '98 Vette and it is a monster... I'm glad to see the SC4 have a little fun for at least a moment... I noticed you have some intake mods/exhaust... (Hey, what is opinion of those too... post on that thread for all to share...)

Hey maybe with nos you would've won... Hopefully, in time their will be more products at a far price for the Sc as it is for our Vette...
