Default JIC Magic full body kit for $1,100...?

I've read that some of you have gotten your kits for around $1100. Lowest price I have found is like $1499 shipped from Carson Toyota. Where can I get it for $1,000. Saving $400 is a big deal to a college kid like me, thats like 3 months worth of food right there!!!

$1,100 when we had the group buy from Carson. $1,500 is still a great price for a quality kit without the long wait.

Save your G-bone and eat for another 8 months

Seriously though, you'd have to wait for another GB to get that $1100 price anyway. Personally I'm not too big on kits because of how easily they crack, and once you crack it you'll be pissed.

Yeah, I know I run the risk of damaging it, especially since I am planning on lowering my car. Thats Why I am also tempted to just go with a 97 conversion for about half of the money.

Anthracite,

For if I went the conversion route, I wouldnt be doing the FULL conversion. Just the front end, and possibly the side skirts. I'm happy with the rear end and spoiler. How much $$$ would that run me?

I too am thinking of going for the 97+ conversion. I think If I source the parts used, It would be a cost efefctive conversion. It may take me longer to do it (lloking for the parts) but probably worth it.

Yeah, it would be nice to try and find everything used. I have a place I should probably give a call to before I buy a new kit.

Do a search for the 97 conversion. There was a group buy for it a while ago, it gave a list of all the pieces and all the prices. Of course the prices will be slightly higher being as you're not buying in bulk but you'll at least get an idea of what you're up against. I personally like the 97-2000 conversion best of all the possible options available. Trying to find the parts used will save you a few bucks, but make sure you know where you're buying from. Check the classifieds here frequently, people are always selling bumpers and such.

i've had my JIC for over a year now.. and I've had it in the body shop 3 times to fix the front kit, to be exact: above the sidemarkers on both sides (more on the left though).. they're known to crack there constantly due to the pressure that the screws have holding the kit up. and rock chips too.. its horrible.. my car is pretty low and my front kit has about 4-5 layers of paint on it.. it sure teaches me not to tailgate..

LOL

Yeah its things like that that scare me away from a body kit.

Plus, it would be cool to keep a somewhat sleeper look for when I go turbo!

here is another incentive to go with the 97-00 kit = it's polyurethane... you can beat on it from here till tomorrow...there will be no -to minimal damage
on the other hand,jic= fiberglass....crack!!!....ouch!!!!
