Unhappy My key won't turn in the ignition switch :-(

Here's the deal... This happened to me about a moneth ago and after messing with it for about 30 min i finally got the key to turn. Here's what happens: Stick the key into the ignition switch (this is an auto car) so the tranny is in Park (I also tried it in Neutral). Also the steering wheel is being jiggled back and forth while trying to turn the key to the right, however the key won't budge. I've tried pressing the brake. I moved the car back about 20 feet and then tried everything over again. Nothing will work this time. Is there some kind of electronic ignition lock I don't know about? Anyone else had this problem? Thanks for any help!

sometimes my ignition locks up for no reason, i guess you just have to jiggle it and give it a good push toward the right.

Make sure to push your shift **** all the way up on park. I have to do that sometimes when my keylock won't turn.

Get some dry lubricant for key holes at any place you make keys. Should free things up.

My girl's 02 IS300 use to do that, but I haven't heard her complain much about it any more, so it must have stopped or it doesn't take too much time to make it turn over. I haven't had this problem with any of my cars, knock on wood!

do this, clean your key, put some type of lube on ur key and stick it into the ignition, take out wipe off key, repeat process. Sometimes it gets a bit dirty in the hole causing it to not turn.

Most likely a sticky tumber. I did the "dry lube" thing and used a graphite lube in the key lock with no avail.

Ended up calling a locksmith who give me a scolidng for using it in there and used two products to fix it (this is in my 99 3.5RL), sprayed a fair bit of this and it worked just fine after:

The locksmith came by, sprayed out out really well with Lock Saver

http://www.lock-saver.com/ (A professional grade product)

And a product called Lok-Shot
