Anyone have problems with excess heat from the fire wall and / or the center console? How can you stop it.

 

my car has been dubbed "the oven on wheels" by friends.....i haven't found a solution yet,other than turning on the a/c

 

ive come to the conclusion its a disease!

And as of right now my a/c is not working, and my drivers side window regulator is broken so I can't open my window. Yesterday it was 33degrees C here yesterday. Whats that like 90F? Damn I thought I was going to pass out. lol.

 

Damn, I thought it was only me. That radiant heat is like torture.

 

im sure if we made some vents from the engine bay to the the front fenders it will look nice like the m3 has and it will reduce allot of the heat coming into the cabin

 

I have a feeling lots of the heat is comming from the tranny.

 

I have the same problem and black car and black leather dont help

 

unfortunatelly this seems to happen to all cars.

the cats being right underneath your feet don't help much either.

but this is normal. nothing you can do but to turn the A/C on.

 

design flaw? i don't know...it seemed to get progressively worse over time...

 

I was thinking about maybe placing Dynamat down in those areas. My thought was that it might block out some of the heat being transfered. Im not sure, but I think one of those companies made a material for the firewall and / or the hood with multiple layers. Anyone think this might work?

 

i think i put a chocolate milkshake in the cup holder a while ago and went shopping...when i came back it was more like chocolate milk....try driving 200 miles and then putting you hand on anything that is below the a/c unit and it will be hot!

Exhaust system is most likely the cause , since its temperature is the greatest. Less air you allow to flow under the car by lowering it or instaling funky air dams more heat would be transfered to the body.

If you see this as problem you may help by better insulating the passanger compartment from it.
Make sure that factory heat shields are in place. Glass matt behind shields. Heat wrap the exhaust pipe. Additional insulation under the carpet and then add extra heavy paded rugs.

Also makes sure your engine is in good working order and there is no missfire or other condition causing raw fuel burnout in catalitycs.

 

i thought that there was a common problem with the transmission tunneling heating up after prolonged drives.?
