Default HARDTOP convertible for 92-00 sc400

yup,i just inquired about it @ newport convertibles and found out it can be done...imagine a hardtop convertible along the same lines of the new sc430...only much better looking, imo!!
the only drawback: the outstanding pricetag, weighing in at a hefty $40+(sponsors anyone??) it's too bad about the price.... i really like my sc enough to do this mod if it weren't so astronomically priced .
i think the sc's classic lines would fit extremely well with the convertible, non ragtop look. The current white convertible sc looks real good because of the seemless metal fold away canopy in the back which is color coded to match the body of the car(looks extremely clean-factory in it's presentation) as oppossed to the other, cloth pull over style you've seen in previous posts. currently to do this convertible is about $15k and an additional $6k for the cleaner, factory looking(with the top down)canopy in the rear deck(note: it doesn't interfere with trunk, gastank, etc.)

after all that, i guess the only thing left to say is.... group buy anyone???...LOL,LOL

autocouture kit, rims, forced induction on the v8 motor, what looks like a custom colored interior-imo, this is the ultimate sc(excluding the hood scoop of course)

isn't that pic the autoculture SC w/ the C's supercharger (and 5.0 stroker kit?)

Edit: and the hood scoop is needed so that the supercharger fits

it is from c's... i know the hood serves a purpose, i just don't like the look-i would want mine to look a bit more subtle and stock

We can only dream. However, the SC body was designed for a solid roof. Targa tops are significantly weaker in frame structures than the non-targa tops. in order to reinforce it, they would have to put metal bars through the doors. And that's what we don't need, more weight on the doors.

the sc doors already got to thick metal rods that X down the center of them.

$40k+ for a retractable HARD top ala mercedes slk and sc430 style(only by special order of course)

$15k for retractable rag top with cloth cover(when folded down) pictured here:

add $6k for the metal canopy (looks factory) pictured in 1st initial post... total of $21k

That hard top is tight! How about a removable hard top, how much would that go for? I'm definitely gonna convertible my SC when I get some money, but for 15k-40, I don't know about that. Convertibles are made for Cali

what hardtop?? the pics show a ragtop for both examples. a removable hardtop is not a bad idea, just a bit limiting....definetely not for NY!!

my bad, that's a hell of job they did on the autoculture's targa then, made me think it's a retractable hard top. I can't seem to find any picture of that car with the top up though.
