Last night, an uninsured driver ended the life of my beloved SC400 with 237,000 miles on it. Damage is purely cosmetic and when I drove it to the bodyshop for an estimate this morning, I was amazed at how solid this car drives. They will likely total out the car as the fender is dented, the door is dented and there's a minor dent in the quarterpanel. But the cost to redo the body will likely match the value of the car. Ironically, the car drives like brand new despite the mileage, and on any other angle you'd swear it's a brand new car!
Frustrating too as I just did all new Supra control arms and ball joints, new shocks, new wheel bearings, new tires, new exhaust manifold gaskets. New transmission last year, rebuilt differential 2 years ago, and new radiator 3 years ago. I've always used Synthetic oil only and at the last smog check, the technician was shocked at how healthy the engine is. I doubt I'll find another car that will go 200,000+ miles and still drive like it was brand new!
This sucks!
