Ok I gave up in the Lexus performance arena. Not worth it. But might use my Lex to tow a real performer.

I have a question, what is the maximum towing capacity of the SC400?

please don't ask me what I will be towing

When towing, a main safety requirement is to not tow something heavier than the tow vehicle. The only safe contradiction to this rule is if you have some sort of gooseneck/fifth wheel setup or some weight distributing bars.

Braking is also a problem, as whatever you are towing will simply push you around when you hit the brakes. Electric brakes are ok, but you really need to be able to stop without them in an extreme situation.

Anyone who says otherwise is on a death wish...see what happens the next time when they are going down a hill at around 60 mph and have to slam on the brakes.

Also, a body on frame vehicle is best, as it provides the most strength and durability.

OK you've tempted us! WHAT ARE YOU PLANNING TOW?

The potential is there for the Lexus. Don't throw in the towel yet! Have you tried all the mods yet??? TC, suspension, exhaust/mufflers.. etc..

Hey, there's nothing wrong with other toys too... I spend a lot of my time with on my custom 1965, VW Karmann Ghia with a 1776 dual carbs, perf. everything and our 98 Corvette and formerly our 300ZX n/a & TT(the Z's are gone now 1 totaled and 1 sold now). Don't pass on the LEXUS SC4...3... and sure don't degrade it to a truck/hauler, it's a $50 - 60,000 automobile...

T.Harris

PS. What you planning to tow???
