Front plastic engine cover
#1
Did some cleaning in the engine bay of the '92 sc300 this weekend and discovered a crack on the plastic cover that covers the top of the manifold around the oil fill cap. The crack itself is around one of the bolts. Perhaps the person before me went a little to far cranking that bolt (hope it wasn't their dealer!)
Anyways, does anyone know what that part number is and how much it costs to replace? It's not a big deal to me, it's more of an eyesore that once you discover is there, will always bother you when you think of it.
TIA!

did u take tyhe cover off? I think it was in the GS forum, but a lot of them have taken the cover off in their GS300/400 b/c they say it looks better w/ it off. They might like it better off b/c in the GS the cover is black not silver like in the sc. If u have taken it off, what do u think?

Cover
You need the No.3 Timing belt cover. Dont know the part number. Should be easy to get from Lexus. You might want to try Parts.com
I dont think you will want to remove it and leave it off. It covers the top of the cam gears and the first 2 or 3 plug wires. It also helps to keep dirt out of these areas. Good Luck

thanx alot folks! If anyone else is interested, I'll post what I find out as far as price. I did not take the cover off myself. My sense is that whoever did before me was not very careful when tightening the bolt.
thanx again!

Parts.com
Hey GadgetSC,
I really must thank you again. I checked parts.com and was amazed at what I was missing. I was able to look at factory diagrams and learned quite a bit.
thanx for the tip!
hope to return the favor one day!
