Im trying to remove the speed cluster in order to change the lights back there but came into one problem.
Theres 3 harnessess attached to the back of the cluster and in order to remove the cluster to work with it the harness must be removed. I was only able to get one cluster out, the other 2 were totally jammed in there. I tried with all my might and couldnt get it off.
Is there a trick to gettin these off withouth breakin the unit?
Any advice for me on this?
Thanks!

There's a tab on the top that has to be depressed in order for the plugs to release. Even after depressing the tabs, it's still really tough. I used a flat-head screw driver and ever-so-slightly pried it out. Be careful though. I don't really endorse for others what I do.

Yea, not only did I push down on the tabs but I even removed that first plastic covering by squeezing a screwdriver back there and unscrewing the screws...that exposed the harnesses even more and made it easier to push down on the tab but it still didnt come even the slightest bit loose.

it takes a bit of muscle to yank it off, but don't worry, if you use the screwdriver and pulling hard technique all in one motion it'll come off. Remember the damn thing has been on there for 10 years! Just make sure to do 2 things for your own good: Place a towel over the exposed mechanism of the telescoping steering wheel (after you remove the upper and lower shells that cover the steering column), this will prevent you from ramming something on those metal parts when you yank it out and the part finally gives. I dind't do this and ended up scratching up my dimmer panel. Second thing is when you replace the cluster put some vaseline on those harness connectors, it'll make it easier to remove them again in the future if/when the time comes. Good luck

I permanently broke my tabs off the very first time i removed my cluster. they fit very tight into the unit and after over 500 removals on my factory plugs they still fit snug enough to have to grunt to remove the cluster.
Once you get it out ,snap'em off!![Smilie](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Best technique is to stick a small flatblade in there and wiggle the plug from left to right as you pull.
