Just signed up. Been reading forum for awhile. Had my 93 Sc300 for 8 months and love it. It only had 48000 miles when i bought it but no service history . I've already switched to Mobil 1 oil but need to get tran flushed. Should I switch to Syn. Fluid or is reg. fluid good. Also any other main. that I should do? Thanks for any help. BigguySC3

The Mobil 1 Tri-Synthetic 5w-30 is magic oil... love that stuff.
If you ever decide to flush your engine fan fluid or power steering fluid... don't use the Mobil ATF it's not Dextron II and is too thick (even though the store owner told me otherwise :eek: )... Had to learn the hard way.
The Syntec Synthetic ATF worked well for the engine fan and power steering. Also a good idea to prime the power steering line by using a pump to put the fluid in the line, then connect everything back and top it off to avoid air in the system. the pump i bought was about 10 bucks.

Thanks for the help. Do you have synthenic ATF fluid in your transmission I assume that if synthenic motor oil is better so would synthetic ATF fluid. A transmission shop, which come highly recommended, said it would be an additional $60-$70 extra to flush and refill with synthetic.

That's how much it costs me total to do it myself. I guess it is pretty time intensive so that extra $60 of yours would go towards labor.
I have a 92' SC4 and it took about 3 gallons ($60 bucks) to flush it out completely. All I did was drain.. measure how much came out.. then put the exact amount of new fluid in... drive for a bit then redrain until the tranny fluid was as good as the new fluid. It took me 4 - 5 total drain and refills.
The SC4 however requires Type-IV fluid that you can only get at the dealer. The synthetic dextron-II i have in my power steering works great.

I wondered if that would work. What about changing the filter do you wait until you get the old fluid flushed out? I have worked on cars for a long time but this is the only car I looked enough to want to keep for a extended preiod of time. Most cars I get bored with after about 6 months.

When I went to the dealer, they said they don't change the filter??? go figure that one.
So I didn't change it but I'm going to change it when I purchase the service manual.
If you treat this car well.. it will last a long time.
