Wow- that's amazing.
Is this your first timing belt change?
If not, how long did you go between changes?

I have never babied this car, in some cases people would say my maintainance schedule was a bit neglectful at times. I have gone 10,000 between oil changes and even just added an extra quart when the oil light came on. Car still does not burn oil in excess of factory specs during a 5,000 mile interval. I remember doing a major service per factory rec at around 125,000 miles. Without checking records, I do not recall a timing belt change since then. I know, its long over due. My actual mileage is higher than what is on the odometer as I drove the car for several weeks without the guages on two occaisons while I had them off to Lextech Lighting to have the needles and backlight redone. This is one of 4 Lexus's I have owned, and presently is the oldest and highest mileage of the bunch. Based on my experience with this car and the 1990 LS I bought in 1990 I was encouraged to purchase a previously owned 2000 LX470 (just over 1 year old with 11,000 miles when purchased) and my 1998 GS400 (6 years old with 87,000 miiles when purchased)

Turbo went on at 128K miles...running strong making high 13sec passes.

There's someone with a green SC running mid 10's on the stock 178K-or-so bottom end, IIRC.

Just an update: I will roll 212,000 this week. Since last update, I have needed an alternator, battery, distributor o-ring (which caused the alt/batt), new driveshaft (the knocking sound), and my radiator has sprung a leak somewhere...

Other than that, the car runs great!

Umm, not sure if I replied to this so I'm going to reply now lol. 208,500 miles, when the stock engine was pulled at 207,900 the car ran great and absolutely no problems to report.... car still runs great, other than a few small swap-related issues.

Distributor O-ring caused what? Mine leaks about 1 qt. per 3000 miles, so I just keep it full.

The o-ring will leak oil directly onto your alternator which will fry it. It's $1.50 at any toyota dealer and takes about 1 minute to change.

No major problems yet? What is your maintenence schedule look like? Is the transmission still holding up ok? Are they hwy or city miles?

Im asking because if I can mimic what you are doing, maybe mine will last that long

EDIT: Nm.. I just saw you bought the car recently.

ALL SC's last that long. (unless they're totaled from a crash).

Sooooo not true. Mine is a damn lemon:

*New Engine, used with 40-50k miles (wish I knew then what I know now, it'd be TT...)
*New Trans (used, 70k miles)
*THIRD A/C Compressor amongst numerous other A/C parts (hella expensive, but finally figured out THAT problem...)
*"New" (off a wreck) Rack-and-Pinion
*Yada-yada-yada... bunches-o-other stuff.

Oh, I'm the 2nd owner and currently sittin' pretty at 184,000.

I should've clarified that SC400's last that long. The only blown engine
cases I've ever read or heard about were SC300's. I don't think a Lexus V8 has ever been blown. If so, it is an extremely rare case.

As far as other problems,...of course other things will need replacing. This is true with any car that lasts long enough.

Well, good luck from now on.
