Default What is this wire?

Guys,

I was trying to find out the probelm with my headlights and I came across this completely exposed wire. I have no idea what it is or does? It is on the drivers fuse panel. I followed it up into a big pile of other wires but never found a sheath on it that was colored - so I am stumped. Could someone please look at theirs and let me know what color the wire is, or else look in a manual and tell me what it is? ( car is a 923 SC400)

Mods, please don't move this as it is specific to the SC.

Thx guys

Peace,

Jonny

The "mods please don't move this" doesn't work FYI.

Nakamichi is related to the Sc but is still a radio

your question however seems to go here, so no sweat. it isn't an electronics question, it's an electrical question.

It is this wire

So I guess it is the grey one. To me it looked like a light brown color when I was trying to work out what the sheath was - but I will go with you.

So what is it and where does it lead/what does it do??

Thx man,

Peace,
Jonny

i went and looked at the wires, from what i can see from your picture it's the very right bottom slot in that plug, in mine the color of the wire is grey with two silver streaks, i looked at all the other plugs and found same color wire on one of the plugs that go to cluster and one on white plug that goes to shifter panel/left side and also grey plug on right side of shifter panel
my money is on TRAC wiring

Well being that my TRAC is screwed anyway I guess I don't have to worry about it. I wonder if this is the reason it is fried or whether this just happened when idiot blew the traction control up!!

I guess I will just tape it up and continue!!

Thx man,

jonny

well, i just happened to see a wiring problem on a S420 that my friend has and he had similar thing going on, melted wire in fuse panel but when tech came out to diagnose and found out that wires in the dash were melted as well, so i would check it out just to be sure, since you are tearing it apart anyways, if need be, i got 2 sets of these wiring harnesses, you know what to do

Eugene,

I'm gonna go stuff my face and then get back and tear this thing down! I will find out where the hell that wire goes and what it does!!

R u on AIM?

I will post in about an hour when I get more of an idea as to what is going on. I tried to call the Lexus dealership but the service dept aren't answering their phones!! Customer service rocks

I may hit u up for one of those harnesses if I can't fix it!!! U da man!

If u come across an auction within 200 miles of here that u can find a wrecked SC400 then let me know. Or else an SC400 with an engine that has a working starter!!!

Peace man,

jonny
