Anti-sway bars.

most people change shocks....
Most people change shocks and springs to reduce body roll. you can get some heavy duty spring replacements to reduce your body roll. I think sway bars are there to reduce oversteer/understeer.
Cheers,
Toan.

I'm afraid changing to heavy duty spring will hurt the ride of the car. I thought changing to larger (in diameter) sway bars should reduce body roll with minimum harsh ride. If this is not true, what's the function of the sway bars?

anti-sway bars
you might want to check with TRD or perhaps Eibach. You are both right in that the sway bars will dramatically affect the "body roll" characteristics of the car as well as change your under/oversteer characteristics.
If you do go w/ an aftermarket sway bar, make sure you change out all the bushings as well. If not, you may accelerate wear and tear on the orignals and find yourself back under the car in a few months.
I put in a set awhile ago on a highly modded '91 Supra. It was a world of difference in body roll.
If you want to maintain the oem ride quality as much as possible, you might want to consider just going with some high performance shocks in combination w/ the stock springs.
Good luck!

sorry guys they dont make any perfomance bushings or larger sway bars, for the 300( i know for a fact) im not sure about the 400 but probably the same thing. springs and shocks ar the way to go.
have u looked at the sway bars before, there huge allready

If the bars are huge, then it must be the springs/shocks that are too soft and cause the body roll.
A while back i did check into after market sway bars but there were none for sc400. They must assume that Lexus owners are not into spirit driving.
thx

The stock bars on the SC are hollow, so they are not as effective (in relation to their diameter) as they appear.
We are working on some bars for these cars and should have some ready for market shortly. If you would like to perhaps test out a set let me know at: todd@tmengineering.net

me too!
I would be interested in these sway bars as well. Pls let us know the outcome. I'm sure I'm not the only one w/ this perspective but I am not interested in racing my SC, therefore I tend to shy away from all out rock hard handling. However, I am very interested in making the SC perform very well on the highway and at high speeds since it is my daily driver. It's got to feel firmer than stock but not bone jarring.....
