Barn baby.
I'm going to have many, many questions - but first I have to brag a bit. I have loved the look of the SC since the first time I saw one. Never dreamed I'd have one. I stumbled across what appears to be a true garage queen and bought it! Now I'm walking around with the goofy 24/7 grin of a new father.
Get this. A '97 SC400 with 10,500 miles on it. I've found copious documents and the comma is in the right place. CLean records, no reports of accident, flood, theft etc. Local Lexus service dept. has records of all years. Owner drove it very little and had oilchanges and detailing done at dealership.
This car is a complete time warp. No mods and little sign it was driven. It's a 7 year old new car. Color is black and tan - I paid low $20k's.
At 40+, I was just planning a mid-life crisis buy. I'm hoping this was a better idea than the 80k mile M3 that I had my eye on. What do you think, did I do okay?

Bing,
Yes You8 made the right choice with that one!! You should have many awesome years ahead of you with this car - that truly is a gem!!
Be good to your baby and she will return the favor!!
But if you are about to start the mid-life crisis - you must go immediately and get yourself some 19's, a bangin stereo system, an indash DVD player, some coilovers and the rock that thang!!
Oh yeah, get yourself a nice 21 year old female to look pretty in the passenger seat!!
Congrats and welcome!
Peace,
Jonny

Thanks for the well wishes! I will try for pics tomorrow - weekend at the latest.
Dx3 - love the ideas, in fact I see another thread here with someone wanting to drop 1" and go to 19's. 1" drop is the most I can imagine given the snow levels I'll face in Chicago (yes, this car's life is going to change to an everyday driver - I promise to be gentle, but I can't afford to keep a beater ) As for the bangin' tunes, I'm pretty pleased with the nakamichi so far - except the deck has almost no skip protection. Regardless, If I spend a dime on mods at this point I'd need the 21 yr old girlfriend to come with move-in priveleges! We had to stretch a bit to get this in the budget, so mods are not discussed around the wife, shhh.
BTW - what am I supposed to do with the friggin' phone? It's a conversation piece I show to passangers for a laugh right now!

Welcome to the club.
If you decide to remove the phone, you'll find that there is more to it than meets the eye.
There is an actual central control unit that regulates the phone, speaker, microphone, mute on radio, etc..
I know I took out at least 5 items when doing this.
I'd love for my car to have only 10K miles on it, but all I can tell you is even at 110K miles you'll love it as much (if not more) than you love it now.

keep it as stock as possible.
the SC400 doesn't have too many upgrades for it to warrant all the trouble.
take it from me. I've owned my SC since it had 23k miles and now it has 106k miles. I've put in 15grand into the car in aftermarket parts..... keep it stock.
keep it stock...
keep it stock ..... until you have 90k miles.. then you can start modding if you want.
but keep it stock for now..

Congratulations on your purchase! I am sure you've enjoyed your beautiful ride more than anything else.
For status, comfortness, and lack of maintenance headaches, the SC4 easily tops the BMW.
I have a BMW that I dumped around $25k here and there. It's got only 54k miles but has way more problems (mostly electrical) than my SC4, which carries 100k more miles, daily abuses, etc. than my BMW.
My SC4 also receives more compliments than the Bimmer, even though I've spent only about $3k or so to make it less stock like.
