hey guys

im from ohio and i might be picking up a 94 sc300 with about 164k for around $1700

i currently have a 98 s14 and a 99 maxima se-l, neither of which is anywhere near stock.

and i previously owned a 96 camry....mainly im posting to ask 2 things.

1. what should i be looking for/at when i check this car out aside from the obvious things.

2. do you guys feel this is remotely a good deal?
a. im pretty sure its stock and as basic as a lexus can be

thanks!

theres a number of things to check, beyond the regular stuff like ac/heat. play a cd in the changer and ride around to see if it skips - this is a normal issue for older sc's and is easily remedied by putting some padding underneath the trunk changer. take some fairly sharp turns and listen for any groaning noises - thats the power steering. leaky power steering pumps are a common problem, about a $200 fix DIY. around 2000rpm's, especially with the throttle pressed down a bit, listen for any rumbling or odd hollow noises, which would be a worn out/older torque converter. this is also a common issue, and can be upgraded rather than repair for about a grand. lastly, the search button is your best friend on these forums - every reasonably common issue regarding the SC has been covered in these forums and there's a lot to learn from them.

take it to a lexus dealer pay them $100.00 and get a run down of everything....its better to waste 100.00 than to waste $1700.00
