Had 9006s for 2 years this month. Replaced the drivers side bulb back in September. It's true that they do not illuminate much more than sock, but the light color is better and easier on the eyes. To answer an earlier question, the bulbs are available individually, and in sets at Auto Zone. Which is fortunate for me since my bulb blew when I was 3 blocks from the parts store.

Wish I had the same luck. I've gone through about 5 9006's in two years

Been doing the 9005 mod for the lows and have been replacng them about every 18 months or so. All you have to do is grind down one tab, and the center groove inside the connector socket. I recently upgraded to HIDs and so the Silverstars go in my lady's car. I would check the bulbs every now and then. One of the bulbs on the last set, the glass bulb started bulging on one side where the tungsten deposited. I make sure to wipe them with alcohol every time I install. If it bulges, replace em unless you like cleaning glass shards out of the headlight housing.

Do you have to grind down the tabs on the 9005 for them to fit in SC4? I'm picking up my SC4 day after tomorrow and I want to replace the bulbs with Silverstars right away...As anyone replaced all three (low beams, high beams, and foglights) with silverstars? Just curious....

EDIT: Never mind (before I get yelled at again for not searching)...I found the editing instructions for the 9005...but I am still curious if anyone has replaced all three lights w/ silverstars

I changed out both high and low beams to 9005s a while back. I think they work great. I like the light color a lot better and the 9005 in the low beam really makes a difference (no opaque dip on the tip of the bulb like in the 9006 it replaced).

I think I read that this takes the output from about 1000 lumens on the 9006 to 1700 lumens on the 9005.

I have no experience with the fogs. My 92 has cornering lamps in that position although I would rather have fogs there (or both, hmmm). Guess I better do a search to see if this cornering lamp to fog conversion has been done.

I also polished the mung off of the outside of the headlight lenses. This seemed to help return the proper focus or aim of the headlights to where they were originally so that the low beam has a reasonably sharp cutoff. I am not getting the impression that the brighter low beams are irritating anyone in front of me.

Well, I've got a pair of 9005, and I've ordered another...but I think I paid kinda high...I found a pair at Walmart for $37 and some change, and I would have gotten two, but it was their last pair. Does anyone know a cheap place in SoCal to buy the 9005s? Or even a cheap website? Just wondering...

I've called the local AutoZone, Pep Boys, and Kragen, and all of them quoted me around $20 per bulb...

$37 is a good price for the set. they are $19.99 each at most all auto parts stores.

Silverstars are nice, but will not come close to matching the HID's. I know, I put some in my High beams, and they are quite yellow next to my 4100 K HID's...

I am thinking about getting rid of them and trying the PIAA Xtreme whites...
