Default After 2 long years, i finally blew a Silverstar

Yep, it took me 2 long years to blow a 9006 silverstar. I bought them within a month of buying my SC. I figure $20 every 2 years for one isn't a bad deal. The Silverstar is perfect for SC owners in particular that need to get good lighting on a budget since our factory headlamps are "the suck".

SC/Silverstar owners.... How long have you had yours in?

I am close to 2 years on the headlights and close to a year on the fogs with Silverstars. I love them. When my car is behind you, it's hard to see anything. All you see is 4 bright lights. Can go wrong with that for less than $40.

I just did this mod about 2 months ago and it's great to hear they should last me a while.

SC300Es, do the fog lights match the color of the low beams? I've been debating having the fogs replaced but I just don't use them very much, because they are only on with the turn signal.

I've had Silverstars in since I bought the car in April and their still going strong. It made an extremely big improvement over the stockers. to the Silverstars.

I wanted some silverstars but the Toyota dealership near me had a good deal on the PIAA Extreme Whites so I got those instead, very happy with them. I do plan on getting some 9005 silverstars for the highbeams, which I never use anyway...

Why do you guys buy 9006?????? 9005!!!... and btw, after my accident in which I shattered both high beam assemblies in a collision, my Silverstars were still alive and working with bent plastic and shattered glass all around it in fact they are so covetted, the body shop that replaced everything decided to keep my Silverstars and leave me with some crappy oem bulbs

Hmm...my friend had some Silverstars for his Tacoma and one of them blew out after like only 10 months....
Could be a lemon...
His bulb type is H4, both high and low beam function together.

Guys, you do know not to ever touch the bulbs with a bare hand right???? Leaving skin oil on the quartz will cause any bulb to crap out on you...

Yeah I'm with JSC- I bought a pair 2 years ago, and one exploded within days. What a mess that creates- very hard to get all the glass shards out of the assembly. The other bulb is still going strong.

All of you should be putting in 9005 bulbs in your 9006 sockets like Rich said! Even more light output than OEM!

But if you guys are just replacing your oem halogens for Silverstars because they emit more light... I have news for you. The 9006 halogens and 9006 Silverstars are both rated at ~1000 lumens, the only thing different about Silverstars is the light output colour.

If you want real improvements without going HID then stick in some 9005 bulbs, or even try out some HIR bulbs (If you can source them)
