Default is 12,000 to much for a 1993 SC400

Hi,

I found someone that has a very clean, very low mileage 1993 SC400. The car is super clean, 50K miles, and a friend has serviced it for a number of years so I know there are no suprises. Still the price, 12,00 or so, is stopping me. What do you guys think?

I Think its a little steep. Because I got my 92 SC400 with 42000 orignal miles 2 years and some ago and I paid about 10000 for it but it was darn close to mint besides the driver side seat had wear. So I dont know man. To each his own, And It also depends on what you want to do to the car. Later and good luck. Oh yeah and 50K is Turbo canidate if you know what I mean

This is definitely new.
And by "this" I mean referring to SC400s as "turbo candidates".

Hey man,

I don't think it is necessarily a bad deal, especially with such low mileage. I would try and haggle him down a little however, maybe $10,800 or so.

Good luck and let us know how it plays out,

Peace,
jonny

Same condition as the one he's thinking about? If so then I'd go with the 98 dude....I paid $9k for my super clean 92 SC3 and I still felt like I didn't haggle enough. Haggle haggle haggle....

If you can do that and it is a low milage clean car I am interested. Also, if you can get me a deal on a 98 or later sc400 I am interested. My goals are clean car, low milage, minimal mods. Something I can commute in and not have to worry that it going to start.

That is definitely not what I am looking for. The car is not a hobby to me. I need to be able to hop in and turn the key and have it start. I need a turnkey, ready to go car, with no accidents, clean title, etc. If you know of a such a car please let me know.

I am in the SF Bay Area, so that is where I am concentrating my search. The 12K price was only a question related to this particular 1993 car. I am willing to pay a reasonable price for the correct car. I just don't want to pay more than I should.

Thanks,

jerry

you should make sure that the car is in good condition.... remember your getting a lexus our engines last in excess of 250,000 miles...so even a car with 80,000 miles on it is still a fairly new car...

Good Points. Anyone know whether the changes in 1998 (bigger engine, 5 speed auto, etc) are worth a price premium? Do they noticably effect tha car (quierter, smoother, quicker ?)

Thanks,

Jerry
