Default Big problem solved with little $$

Hello,
I started having problems with my power steering, yes another victim, for last week or so my steering would get hard and when i open my hood i would see PS fluid on alternator and little puddle of fluid under the PS reservoir cap, of course i thought, my pump is leaking, took it to a dealer to find out exactly where its leaking from and they say its from the pump. Got home and i was about to order a new pump and decided to look at leaking again myself, since i saw puddle under reservoir cap, i thought maybe its leaking from cap, went to home depot and bought some round rubber sealent they use for sink ***** ($1)
and put it under my cap and close it, wipe all the fluids, basically cleaned the fluids that were everywhere, check on it two days later, no leaks, no fluids anywhere. I was so happy and i shared it with my wife and her response was " thats great honey, can you wash the dishes now". So i figured ill share the info with you guys, maybe someone having same problems and before they make a big money expense, check little ones. The End.

Brandon.

Slider, I can relate to the "enthusiastic" response your wife gave you!! LOL!!! I get the same from my wife as well.
Since you didn't get the "preferred" response from the Mrs. , I'll supply you with it!

Great work!!! Thanks for helping us with another inexpensive repair!!!

Just a quick question that has been bothering me, how does the P/S fluid leak onto the alternator? My P/S pump is on the drivers side of the engine and the alternator is on the passenger side.....

yep, 300's alternator is on the left side when facing the engine and on the 400's it's on the other side, suceptable to major leakage!
