I know it was repainted. Dealer said that the guy had scuffs on the rear bumper and the replacement didn't match, so the entire car was repainted. I have to have black interior, but exterior is up for grabs. Dealer described it at as a bluish-silver. It looks like the platinum to me, but I don't know the colors very well.
Pretty sure it is not "Alpine silver" as I know it has a significant blue hue to it. I just wish I could see it in person before putting down a deposit, but we'll see.

i think they are maya dts or tts or something like that if not i know 100% that maya has rims identical to those, they do look tight though

That car doesn't look alpine silver..and I don't even know what platinum looks like. Most that are called platinum have a bluish tint.

Anyway, you should run the VIN but it may not always tell you about the accidents the car has been in.

it wouldnt be as fishy if the car was a 92 as the paint in older cars tend to wear and perhaps the owner repainted for that reason. and but this is a 97+ and most 97 and up sc's i've seen have mint or excellent paint still. So it could be possible its been wrecked before. perhaps you can get a local cl member to go check it out for you. carfax usually is only 60% correct the other 40% of the time accidents are not even reported.

Got a confirmation on the Paint Code, 1A0, which means Platinum Metallic. Going to look into having an inspection done. They are standing by their story that the rear fender was dented and replaced, didn't match, and so the entire car was repainted. Not completely farfetched, but definitely atypical. No way to confrim with previous owner anyways.

CarFax is clean, but as others have stated, doesn't always tell the whole truth.

Not going to disclose price until I decide whether to pass or not.

I just don't like the blue in it I guess. I wish I could see one in person to know for sure though. I'll have to get a better report and waitng on more pictures.

Actually pulling up more research this is weird:
In 1997, 1A0 means Platinum Metallic
In 1998, 1A0 means Alpine Silver
Are these the same color, or did Lexus go crazy? Doesn't seem like you would want to change colors but keep the same code b/w consecutive years...
Any comments!??!?!?

Umm, why?? You think someone here is gonna cut in on your car?? You were asked the price so more people could tell you whether they thought it was a good deal or not, not to try and steal your new car We are all like brothers here, so relax and enjoy the ride.

Also, why would they not just repaint the rear bumper again to match the ret of the car, as opposed to repainting the entire car. I'm calling BS on this one.
