Question

Have anybody had any experience with OZ Racing Superleggeras, or seen them?

It seems like these wheels are made strong and light and the price is ok; they also don't look too bad. I was thinking about going for some volks for my SC but these are half the price and the weight is the same. I will get 17 x 8 on all four.

Here is some info:

http://www.ozwheels.com/r26.html

Ikon (did you ask about the strut bar?),
my strut bar cost me about $100.00 made that includes painting the brackets with Polyurethane paint. I just tested it out and to tell you the truth IT MAKES a hell of a difference, specially on the steering feel and control. I had to tighten it a bit to get a better effect of it. Somehow I had it a bit loose when I first installed it. This Friday I readusted it really tight and it was a day/night difference. I can turn sharply quickly and still feel how the front feels solid even on a bumpy curved road. I can now feel the Proxes TS-1s working harder on the front.

Default got a ?

Mindflux...

I have a set of OZ Mito Modulars in PERFECT condition. The wheels and tires have NO blemishes and the tread is +90%. Ebanks will attest the condition. This would probably save you quite a few hundred bucks--they are a very clean rim, I will upload a pic of them on my car...

Default BTW...

The wheels are 17x8.5 in the front and 17x9.5 in the rear. The tires are Dunlop SP9000's and of course, they will fit..

Default reason why I asked

First of all check this table:

http://home.earthlink.net/~cvlocas/wheels.html

Reason why I asked the first question is because these new wheels weight only 7kgs which translates to about 15.4lbs each. My current wheels weigh 27.3 lbs same weight as yours Lexkid. I thought they were light but found out that they are not.

As you see I am not going for looks nor size (I don't want 18's or 19's unless I get an awesome deal and are light enough)

If I do get the 17" superleggeras (15.432 lbs) I plan to save an estimated 47.6 lbs total.
For the 18" superleggers (17.6 lbs) I'll save about 40lbs total.

Hey Mind,

I am also considering the Superleggeras for my GS as track wheels with race slicks. The reason is the wheel is fairly strong, decent price, lighter weight (though I was quoted 19 lbs for 18x8), and the most important a 35mm offset available for my AP brakes. Tire Rack has a pretty good price. Where are you buying yours? For the GS, it may be too "spokey" as far as styling, but it's only for the track! It looks better for the SC.

QbranchCars,

That is exactly why I want those wheels.

I am thinking about tirerack or these folks:

http://www.superbuytires.com/cgi-bin/sbtapp2?2054

they seem to have the wheels a bit cheaper than at www.tirerack.com, but I don't know how cheap is their shipping cost. Sometimes shipping can be a problem.

If I can't get them cheap I'll order directly from a OZ racing dealer at my country.

Hope you get them.

Default strut bar

If you don't "Mind" Could you post the directions on how you made the strut bar?

Was it a unit that you customized or was it made from stratch???

If made from stratch, what was used (all materials) and the time it took to complete???

TIA,

The Ikon

Just bought a set of OZ Superleggera wheels - 18 x 8 - a month ago from Tire Rack. I highly recommend these wheels, since they are light (18 lbs), well made, and can be balanced easily. I used them with Bridgestone RE 730s (245/40x18) and the combination handles very well - especially on the balance sensitive GS4 front-end. There are no vibrations. By the way, the wheel offset was 38 mm and should work for the SC.

Got any pictures?

Thanks

The OZ wheels were $350 each plus about $14 for shipping and handling. Don't have any digital pictures yet - will put them online hopefully next week. An alternative is the Tire Rack fitment guide - where the previous SC picture probably came from. By the way, I was also considering Volks wheels (SE-37,TRD Sports), but I couldn't justify the higher cost when compared with OZ wheels.

thanks for your prompt response...we are kind of in tune. Great choice. I considered the Volks wheels also...but like you said why pay more?

I'll wait for your pics. Hitting the track soon?
