i just bought another sc and i am considering purchasing a turbo kit instead of going through the whole process of a swap. i have 140k miles on the car, and is running strong, shouldi rebuild the engine before i turbo it?

you should be ok... 140k is jsut broken in for the 2jz! as long as you dont crank up the boost, you should have no problems.

Wink

Someone correct me if i'm wrong as i'm not a 6cyl guy, and I'm sure you will but I heard the 2jz-ge head flows better than a gte head does. The GE motor has slightly higher compression and no oil squirters for the pistons. Lots of N/A-T guys on supraforums make over 400hp with the GE motor and single turbo. As long as there is proper tuning, meaning upgraded fuel and boost/timing control I think 20psi on that 140K mile motor would be no problem. I'd venture to say that 400hp is good enough to get you into the 12's at least. Even with a heavy car. Dave H sells basic kits for the supra talk to him about one for your SC.

Turbo, header, downpipe, wastegate, BOV, intercooler, and pluming is the easy part. It's all of the supporting mods like boost controller and fuel controller and tuning, my god the tuning. That involves a tuning shop, which finding a good one can be really hard, most places you drop your car off and never see it again. You need a dyno and a sniffer to get it just right. I've seen a guy make 430+hp with his SC300 but it wouldn't idle. It's a time consuming process. Not trying to discourage but just fair warning.
