Aftermarket Alternators?
#1
I remember somebody posting that he had one available.
I think it was Todd from TMengineering. I need an aftermarket alternator that can handle the pounding of 4 HID headlights, a DVD player, amps, TV tuner, and such.
NE know where or who and a how much they offer?
Thanks.

Those are around $500 depending on the output.
Your HID's will draw less than regular bulbs.
The only major thing that will cause excess current draw will be your amplifiers and maybe some aux fog lights. Anything else won't be much more load than the factory stuff. An upgraded alternator will help though, even with only stock components.

BUT...
Can you tell me why my Traction control turns off when I switch my HID headlights on? I have no problems when I switch on my fogs.
It's just my HID headlights that come on maybe like 70% of the time, but at least 1 doesn't warm up during ignition, which can get real annoying since I have to start the car over until they both charge up.
Is that the alternator's problem? battery? I dunno.
The DVD, amp, and HID fogs seem to not effect it. It just seems to be the HID headlights. When they flicker sometimes they cause the traction control to turn off.
My first guess is that the alternator is diverting power to it.
What do you think?
Thanks.

I may or may not go, things have been pretty hectic here especially on the weekends.
If I don't go maybe you can swing by my shop before or after the meet. I'm like a mile from Carson Toyota - you might even be able to sneak off in the middle of the day if you have to.
I guess as the date gets closer we'll figure out something. I can look at it for you for sure though.
