Default Dude...Silver or Black

The only cars that seem to receive the black emblems well are black/silver cars.
It just doesn't match well with other colors

My gold emblems had some kind of clearcoat on them. Make sure you sand them to get rid of it. Otherwise, the paint chips in a couple of months.

haha seriously. $150 for emblems that you could do in less than time than driving to the dealership and back, and save costs less than $10. Some people...

Yeah, $150 for some cheap pieces of painted plastic. Gimme a break. I'll do it myself and trick off the other $140 at the strip club or the casino!! ha ha!!

I would rather spend the extra 140$ to have it perfect and OEM, rather than have some backyard spray-painted part on my car that runs the risk of chipping, looking junky, etc. I think it's a shame that Lexus does not sell the SC300 emblems in pearl black.

Ha ha ha ha, yeah it'll look like crap if you let a kid do it. But it's really all the same. It's all in the process and the know-how of the person doing the work. Just like mechanics, just because a guy has a patch on his shirt that says "Lexus" and he works at the dealer does that automatically and unequivocally make him a better mechanic than Moe down at Joe's Auto Repair Clinic? Of course not. This is the same.

As a matter of fact you have no choice BUT to do it in this manner as Lexus no longer sells black pearl emblem kits for the SC300/400. I called the dealer just now and was told that 2004 was the last year they made them, they're only available through aftermarket or DIY now. And if you go aftermarket guess what? It's just gonna be from a guy in his garage taking silver or gold emblems and re-doing them in black in the manner we've been telling you. If you want to pay someone else then pay me, I have a spare set of emblems in my garage that I was planning to do in black. When I do finish them I may sell them here on CL, who knows...it'll take all of an hour to do them and I guarantee they won't look like crap. Not even close. Let us know if you ever do find some, and if they're "OEM black pearl" as you prefer.

Call your nearest Lexus and tell them what you want, like this, "Hi, I want to buy a set of black pearl emblems for a 19XX SC300, do you have some ins tock or would you have to order them?" And next thing ya know you'll be coughing up cash for your desired emblems...voila!
It's not all the same.

And shall I say it again, Lexus doesn't have SC300 emblems in pearl black regardless of stock - so calling them and asking for them does no good.

I called just now, they're not making them anymore so you'd have to call around to nearly all the existing dealers to find one that "may" have a set in stock. I was told that they just stopped production in December of 2004 so you just missed out. If you really want these you're gonna have to make them or have someone else make them. Trust me man, it's not hard at all and would come out looking nice if you do it right.

When I say, "it's all the same" I mean it's just clearcoated, painted, plastic emblems. It's not rocket science and it doesn't involve moving parts. It only has to be aesthetically pleasing and weather resistant...surely you can do that yourself!!! Listen, I'm no mechanic by any means...I usually pay others to do most things I don't want or feel like doing, but this is something where I'd feel really dumb paying someone else for because it's so incredibly easy to do yourself. As a matter of fact you have me energized now. I'm going to take my old battered emblems that I have in the garage, paint and clearcoat them, and post pics here in the next few weeks. You'll see how good it comes out and I'll also share how long it took me from start to finish. If you like them I may be willing to sell them for much less than Lexus's ridiculous price

Good luck painting em, not that you'll need it. Mike makes a good point, even the $150 OEM emblems are JUST: plastic, paint, and clearcoat...nothing special. If you have ever used spraypaint before in your life ever, they should come out absolutely awesome. Just use multiple light coats and you're set. And to guarantee they come out good and stay looking good for a long long long time, buy some plastic promoter paint and some sandpaper to prep the emblems first

I sent mine to a place called Automotive Gold in Texas and they came out great. One of the emblems had an issue so I told the owner of the business and he fix everything right away for free and sent me a bunch of free stuff on top of everything. Definitely quality customer service

I bought a full set of new (must be aftermarket cause they didn't have the pins on back of emblems) emblems on ebay for $40. Way better than doing a nasty retape or glue job. However after 2 years the "black chrome" is peeling.....weird LOL!!!
