Default When did they flare fenders on the SC 400

Hi,

I was looking at some of the pictures ppl have posted and noticed that some of the cars seem to have the front and rear fenders flared out a bit. My 1998 has these and I was wondering whenn Lexus did this?

thanks,

Jerry

I don't believe Lexus EVER had a car with flared fenders. You may be looking at someones aftermarket kit.

mkorsu is correct. It had to be aftermarket and it was probabl ugly. The only body changes to the SC through the years are the change in spoiler, added front grill/diff bumpers and side skirts. Lexus had a very tough time adding the changes to the SC, since the original version was in their eyes perfect.

lI think what I am calling flaring is really the side skirts and the bumpers. It gives the body side less of a flat appearance.

In that case, the change was in 1997.

The sheet metal on the SC never changed. It was the same from 92 - 00. The plastics evolved 3 times thru out the evolution. 92-94, 95-96, and 97-00. Each generation had it's own front bumper, fog lights, and tail lamps. Only the 97-00 had revised rear bumper, spoiler, and side skirts. The headlights remained the same the entire production run.
