When I have the A/C on the compressor is always working. With previous cars you could actually hear, or feel, the compressor going on and off to maintain the cabin air temp.

Mine is always on when the climate controls are in the automatic mode, even when trying to heat the cabin.



Does the compressor ever turn off?

no it stays on even with the heat to balance it out, the heat and the cold. The auto climate control changes how much mixture of each every minute so it is always on with climate control.
