Default Painting Emblems

One thing I know about this forum is that you are all very opinionated I just got my new wheels in and I'm looking to ditch my gold emblems. Actually, I've already pulled them and started painting them with the black pearl that Testors offers (they don’t look too bad actually). I with I could leave the emblems off all together - my car looks lower for some reason without them (I got rivet holes though). Anyway, I know you are all very concerned with our SC's not looking trashy, so I have to wonder - have you all seen or own a black sc with painted emblems that doesn't look like trash? I’m just afraid that it looks really super cheap. I had to buy cheap wheels to begin with (Konig Graphite Holes), so I’m pretty concerned with the DIY emblems really looking tacky. Mod and custom cars aren’t a big thing around here really, so it’s not like I am too embarrassed, but I would like it to look proper.

I may try to find some chrome emblems when I get the money for them. I think the chrome would look good now, but until then I’ll have to get by with what I’ve got. Any suggestions for a really good paint to either simulate the factory black pearl or other dark steel look?

Why not just shave them all together, nothing better then a smooth shaven body

Rivet Holes or if you mean repainting the areas with holes - if I had the money for that I wouldn't be asking about painting emblems, right?

I've heard to stay away from Testors.

and yes, people on forums are opinionated. That's what a forum is for, to share opinions

Gunmetal looks cool... with my wheels being graphite and not actually black - that might be an option to look for. What brand of paint did you use and what was the name? I didn't primer my emblems (oops - no experience with this) and I have them partially sanded right now to repaint. To be honest they look pretty freakin cool like this. Sorta a brushed metal and black. I may go through a few tries to find the right look for what I've got.

I'm southwest of OKC by the way. My car has zero mods, but I might be up for a get together. It needs to be cleaned up a great deal first. It was a super clean sweet ride, but I’ve neglected it a bit unfortunately. Hopefully I can clean it back up.

Yeah, what paint should be used? The Testors that I've got is enamel I believe - is that going to flake off? I also picked up some clear coat, but it’s lacquer – is that a nono? I’ll look it up, but I was thinking, what the hell, I’ll get the black pearl and then cover it with a automotive clear coat that should seal it. Can’t I seal it with something compatible with enamel and be good?
