HID Conversion Kit
High-Intensity Discharge (HID) lamps do not generate light by heating tungsten gas. HID lamps operate more like vapor-filled streetlight. They don't have a filament, but create light by zapping an arc between two electrodes. The HID light useage is 35W, but can produce up to 3 times more than a 55W Halogen Lamp. Lamp Kit includes 2 bulbs, 2 ballast, and custom wiring harness with relays.

The price is between $500-700 depend on where you buy....

I paid $510 for the whole kit.... easy installation take about 10 min..

Default HID Questions

I want to install HID's into my 93 SC4, but I still have a few questions. Let me get this straight--when I take out the stock bulbs (are they 9006, btw?--or would these work: http://www.suprastore.com/supra/vishypwhitlo.html) will I have to install more reflective housing like in the high-beams (since the low beams are like flood lights in that they have their own reflective backing, when I remove these, won't I have to make up for the lack of backing)?

Next question: the where is it suggested that I place the ballasts, because I was wondering whether the fact that you have more open connections around the ballasts make it more vulnerable to water (and would short-circuit the headlights).

Next, one of my headlight sealings leaks--there come times where there's a puddle of water on the inside of the fixture. Since you can't even touch the HID's with your bare hands, doesn't this pose a problem?

Also, what about the wattage differences (is this made up by the ballasts?)

Finally, would you recommend that I get these professionally installed, so i don't run into the problems of the first post?

Thanks in advance
-Tim

Default Just install the darn things

Tim...

CHILLOUT.

All those questions are too much.
Just install the HID lights in 10 minutes and see how many people's
heads turn.

I also upgraded to the vision HIDs from my old phillips HID kit
and they are awesome. Clean blue light. Makes all those bulbs look cheap.

To answer your questions quickly.

-don't worry about the condensation in your headlamps.
-the HID bulbs go right into the 9006 socket like any other bulb.
(from the driver's persective)..the RIGHT bulb ballast just velcro to
the airbox and the Left one just velcro to the car battery. Wire it up and you're ready to go.

No NEED to talk endlessly about scenarios.

U could be driving around enjoying those lights right now as you ponder those questions...so just install it YOURSELF and enjoy it.
