I've noticed a really odd sound in my engine. It's only got 55k miles, so I would hope it's not a bad internal problem! Whenever I hit the gas, I hear a strange clicking coming from the front of the engine (like maybe the timing belt area inside the valve cover). This sound is similar to the click you hear when you tighten your gastank cap down all the way and it clicks....know what I mean? Just a little quieter. It only does it at low RPM's when accelerating or just throttling up (i've got a 5-speed stick), maybe at 1000 to 1200 rpm's. The car is running great, but this is kinda worrying me. Anyone heard a similar sound? I guess I can try to record it and make a .WAV file if ya don't know what I mean.

Thanks in advance!
SR

Well I did have someone rev it while I was under the hood...that's how I can tell it's coming from where the timing belt is inside the valve cover. Doesnt sound like valves tho. And the car runs smooth as can be, with no smoke or anything.

Search the site.

I recall a similar sound that was traced to one of the pulleys. Replacing the pulley solved it.

Anyone else have any ideas? The clicking is bothering me more and more!! Actually I hear it more and more...being that it's warmer outside, I keep the windows down more. Plus with my new subwoofers, I gotta keep the windows down so people hear it!

Thanks!
Steven
