Checking for a salvage history?
Im looking at a 1992 Sc300 5speed and it currently has a clean title. I ran a cafax and it says it was issued a salvage title or certificate in 1996 by a new york DMV. I contacted the dealership selling the car and they said it has a clean title and has never had any salvage history. It has had one owner, and the owner of the dealership is the one who owned it. Im going to go check it out tomorrow. What can i look for to see if indeed it ever had a salvage history? Could looking for vin tags on the body panels work? Like if panesl were replaced, the new panels wouldnt have the vin tags right? Where are the vin tags on the SC? Could someone explain to me how it has a clean title now, but yet carfax says it has a salvage title? thanks

Hey man,
In some states you can get a Salvage title turned into a clear title. I know you can in Texas, not too sure where else.
Yes you can check the body panels. There are 2 on the drivers door jamb, one on the actual body and the other on the door. There is one under the hood. Ummm Gazi, help me out here!!
Good luck,
Jonny
