No problem! So you know, the insulating mica prevents the two copper plates from connecting, requiring that all current go through the fusible link. Power comes into that little tab, goes through the link to the other copper part and to the nut on the end connected to the inside of the socket. Without the fusible link, you don't have a complete circuit. By putting a metal washer in there (or possibly even no washer at all) you're bypassing the link and making a direct connection. Do be warned that you'll no longer have a fuse back there, so you'll be limited to the fuse in the kick panel.

IC.... well as long as my console doesn't melt or anything I will be fine with just the fuse in the kickpanel. thanks for the insight.

Problem with mine was the ground wire wasn't working properly. I tapped in another wire and re-ground the ground wire. Works great now.

Maybe this will help anyone else with the same problem.

ok, i was wiring some gauges to the cig lighter and one of the male/female disconnects touched the frame for the radio

now the windows, sunroof, cigarette lighter, and climate control dont work and the shifter wont move out of park.

the fuse under the hood is the one that says "cl" right? as in cig lighter. but the fuses on the drivers side are they supposed to have a cover or something cause i have no clue which is which

I checked both my fuses also and they were good. Im going to take the whole thing apart and take a closer look at the little washer. Great job on the pic.

from what is sounds like is your creating a ground for it therefore completing the circuit by creating a ground for it where the fusable link was melted off good fix for temporary ,but not long term i mean what if the current draw is too much and the fuse doesn't burn out and melts the wires down to the dash thats why the fusable link is there to protect the harness... so i'd say use that for temporary and replace it eventually

When I first got my 95 SC 5 speed I noticed that my cigarette lighter wasn't working either. So, I took out the center console and inspected the assembly. To my surprise, the ring that goes on the back to tighten everything down was extremely loose. I tightened it all the way back up and it has worked perfectly ever since.
