Help!

I took a trip to Tennessee this weekend and someone decided to play "Pin the cart on the Lexy." I came out of the grocery store and a lady said some dude purposely rammed a cart against my car. Jealous mother ***********.

To make a long story longer, I have my first door ding and am wondering if anyone has ever used Dent Wizard or Ding Doctor which use that suction thing to get dings out. The reason I am hesitant is that I heard the curvature of the SC won't be right if I use this method. Has anyone done this? If so, give me the 411.

Gracias!

At the dealer I worked they used Dent Pro system on the new cars that had "shipping and handling" dents. The system consist on special rods that are placed and manouvered inside the affected panel and a suction cup mirror attached to the surface. The reflection of the light would be the needed parameter in order to verify the straightness of the repaired panel. It was a neat system and I would recomended it to my customers and used it in my own SC. The only time it would not work was on creases or when the ding/dent was covered and located right in the reinforcement under the hood.

All in all go for it...paintless repairs are worth it.

Default Bout with shopping cart

hoops - just looked at your SC (just like mine) a few minutes ago and now I hear that you've gone and got yourself dinged - you know, purposely damanging a Lexus SC is listed under Texas' concealed handgun law as being a reason for justifiable use of deadly force. I've got a major ding and 3 small ones - dealer-recommended paintless repair quoted me $380.00 which included paint touch-up of some rock chips. High. I thought that it'd be more like half that??

The words "Dealer Recommended" jumped up and dropped kicked me in the face and should have sounded your alarms also. Sounds like the dealer is funneling this guy business at inflated prices. The price should be about $35 per ding.

The cost I'm not concerned about, I just don't want to ride around in an SC with a malignant tumor on the door after it's "fixed"

I am sooooo pissed!

Garnet, Any pics of your SC that I can find? Also, what do you think of your Borla? I am considering a new exhaust and I hear from IKON that Borla's the way to go. If you have any pics of the system on your car let me see!

Default Hoops

Hoops - yeah - that's the reason that they're still there - but like you, I don't want a half-assed job. One of mine is on the crown of the passenger-side fender - the others could probably be handled by any ding doctor - I did some web research on how it's done - the tools, etc. they all seem to be franchise businesses. I'll get them fixed soon but I'll have to see the guy's work first.

I just posted some pics this past weekend to the gallery - just checked and mine is the 2nd set (obviously the garnet-colored one). I sure like the color of the first 300 there - never saw that color before??? Sweet!

Just saw another post - yeah, the pictures show the car w/Borla but you can just see a little of the extensions on the rear view - there's a better view on the Member's Ride section - there's a different view showing the extensions there. I like Borla - sounds great from the rear of the car at idle - I wouldn't mink a little more noise personally. Very much agree on the color - love it!

Default Murfreesboro

Hey Hoops, sorry to hear about the car.

I saw that you were in Murfreesboro. I used to live there, and most of my family still lives there.

anyhow good luck with the dent removal.

Garnet92 - MAN, I LOVE TEXAS STYLE LAWS! Maybe if we had laws like that in California, we would have less crime (I KNOW we would!). Here, if someone shoots at you and then runs away, you CAN NOT, BY LAW, SHOOT AT THEM! Can you believe that ****?

And any type of property damage can NOT be stopped by deadly force. So if someone is bashing your car in with a baseball bat while you're standing there with a gun, you can NOT legal shoot them (even to just stop them by shooting them in the leg or something).

Hell, even if someone breaks into your house, unless they are using deadly force, you can not use deadly force. Even if they did shoot you first and you shot back and killed them, I bet Grey Davis would still give you the thumbs down and the DA would still try to prosecute!

I just wish for crimes like this to happen to Liberal Democrats...oh but wait, the ones that write and back these "PRO CRIME" laws have ARMED guards and live in gated communities (eg: Diane Feinstein and Barbara Boxer)...

I wish some more politically inclined Texans would move out here...PLEASE REFORM THIS SOCIALIST STATE!

Brian, you mean this thread wasn't about how to get rid of people who ding cars but rather, getting rid of the ding itself? Oh...hmmm, Dentmaster is pretty good...

Well one day, once I become some sort of "Peace" Officer or Federal Agent of some sort, I'll be able to CCW (conceal carry) legally...that will be nice. At least if I get shot at, I can shoot back! Imagine how POLITE everyone in Los Angeles would be if everyone was armed...or there would be a lot of dead people...either way, Los Angeles would be better off!

Can't you carry on the outside? I thought handgun restrictions were only on concealing it. I know, not many want to walk around with guns strapped to their belts, but there are some parts of the U.S. I'd feel more comfortable doing so (ask convenience store owners). You could always come up and hang out with us in Michigan. We've recently passed legislation that essentially allows law abiding citizens a permit to conceal. It seems they did it right. You must have a clean record, not any body that may reach the counter can get a gun and safety training is required before your permit is issued. Unfortunately, I heard some dorks got the sigs. required to petition the recent passing. Who knows what'll happen. I don't need weapons for safety where I live, but I've considered owning for recreation. I may make that a reality with the hope that, if the leg. get's repealed, I would be grandfathered in.

Maybe I should change my thread subject to: What are your handgun law opinions" :-)

Anyways, I'm going to go ahead and have the ding doctor take a look at it. I went to a body shop and was quoted $1335. BITE ME! And if you're wondering why I don't report it to my insurance, I just don't want to have too many claims so I'm picking what to report to my agent.

I'll let you guys know how it turns out.
