Default should my bro trade his mr2 for this sc3?

my bro has a 91 mr2 turbo with modifications and he's thinking about trading his 2 plus cash for this sc300. the sc300 is at http://www.craigslist.org/sfc/car/63592412.html. you guys think my bro should go through with it. if so how much more cash should my bro pay. my bro's 2 has around 116,000miles.

11K is kinda high for a 92 with 160K miles on it. I'd do even trade if anything. I got rid of my 91 MR2 for my SC and I sure do miss it, almost to the point where I kinda regret it.

He also has that SC listed here on CL.

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=153672

And you can tell by the first line of his thread there that he knows he is asking too much: "Please do not comment about my asking price or what not. I know about how much these cars are worth and with the parts that I put into it and the condition, I think the price is reasonable. Please keep all comments to yourself unless you are interested in buying THANKS"

Definately not worth $11k, but still worth a little bit more then a stock one. When you buy a used car like that, you arent paying for all of the mods he put into it.

That price is ridiculous. Unless he forgot to mention something very big in his ad I would find something different. For the cost, you could buy a 92 and buy all the mods he has brand new and you would probably still save money!

Yeah, the dude definatly thinks he has a lot more then he really does. Ahwell, he's a n00b, gotta expect it sometimes

Something else for you to consider is that this SC is on the other side of the US from where you are, lol.

NO.

If he likes to go fast, and most MR2 owners do, then keep the MR2.. (Can't really think of any other reason for owning that car...maybe the spacious trunk, or the ability to seat five comfortably. )

The SC's are very very nice cars, but not extremely fast (Not counting the GTE's, NA-T's, and the few 1UZ-TT's around)

Different tools for different jobs.

MR2 - good looking, fast, nimble
SC - good looking, quick, luxurious, (plus the Lexus "panty dropper" effect)

just my $.02

wow where can you get a 99-00 for 11k? i've searched around and the lowest i've seen for a 97-00 is like 18k... highest being 27k... man these cars are sure still up there in price.

Default Just bought a 97 sc400

Just bought a 97 SC400 with 86000 miles, hot red.... not a single dent, with hardly any if any hairline scratches and a few rock chips on the hood (expected)... got it for 12.5 g's and 13.6 driveout here in Texas at an Infiniti dealership... there are good deals out there... look up E-bay... I found a 96 pearl white SC400 right around the corner at a Porsche dealership with only 120K and their asking price was 8900... excellent condition... as a matter of fact better condition than my new ride but i paid for the lesser miles and the hot red... let me know if you want me to get it checked out for ya... call me 832 715 1121... i have a Certified Lexus Mechanic friend that started his own business checking out used vehicles for people... he basically goes to the prospective car in his van.. hooks up all engine diagnostics to check AC system, electronic system, tranny, belts, wires hoses, paint, body damage, rim damage, brakes, calipers, rotors, all interior, wiring, and suspension for only 100 bucks... that boy Vishnu.... hit me up... I would have bought it myself for about 7 g's - not bad at all.

I picked up my 93 sc 5spd w/ 170k for 3500 and i knew a few others who have got thier 5spd's for under 5k as well. just keep looking around. anything more than 10k for a non 97+ is too much in my opinion. unless it has under 50k miles or something. But milage isnt a big deal with these cars. Im sure you can pick up a 97 5spd for around 13k if you look hard enough even though they are rare.
