Default Install Day

Guys,

Tomorrow my baby is getting some new shoes - 19's -

I am also installing the Techkit ground kit. The installation looks fairly simple, anyone else already put it in?

I am also going to fix my fogs as they have not worked since I got the car!

I was going to put in my S-AFC and get the car dyno-tuned but I was told to hold off until I do my intake.

So I have a busy day with the SC tomorrow - wish me luck,

Jonny

Yeah, hold off on the dyno tuning until you do intake, exhaust, etc.

What's the deal with these grounding kits? I hear stories of them adding power, others say it's a waste of money, is there any concrete evidence that I could look up on this?

Well,

I have heard many things about them - some people say they are purely cosmetic, other people say they give a slight HP increase. The techkit ones I got are made specifically for our cars so they are the exact length, they use a low gauge wire, and you have a choice of colors. I went for red.

I will post pics after the install and let you know if I notice any difference.

MTeele,

Exhaust is long done - just need to read up some more on the BFI and get the time and desire to build it. This damn S-AFC is staring me in the face - PLEASE INSTALL ME!!!

Peace,
Jonny

To get any hp gains out of a grounding kit, you will need to test it on a dyno to see where the ideal grounding points on.

I'm just going to go off the pictures that I received with the kit - hopefully they will have been chosen for a reason. If not, I guess it still looks cool!!

Peace,
Jonny

I heard you needed a special crimping tool to crimp wire of that gauge.

I have the pictures the dude from Techkits sent me - but I am not sure whether or not he would have a problem with me handing them out.

the kit I bought looks awesome and was worth the $80 or so I spent on it.

Peace,
Jonny

nah I used 4 gauge on my amp install and I was able to do it (although not easily) with just normal channel locks. And I just did a lil research on supraforums and this is what I found out.

The best wires to replace are:
-Pos. terminal to alternator
-Neg. terminal to engine block (or intake manifold)
-Neg. terminal to frame/body
-Any other ground wires/straps that look bad

Just use some good 4 gauge wiring from either Home Depot (cheapest), amp install wiring (prettiest), or welding cable ("best"). And then all you need are some crimpable ring terminals, electrical tape, wire loom (optional) and maybe an hour of your time. I really look forward to doing this Sunday. When my sub hits (760 watts!!) my lights dim bad, so hopefully this may cure it
