Wood Steering wheel upgrade or HID conversion ???
Fellow CL members,
My 97+ conversion has been done on my black 95 SC4. (Front bumper and tail lights)
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=148650
Now I am thinking about next project. One by one !!!
With about $400-500 budget, I am thinking about one of these options.
1. American Stitches wood steering wheel upgrade ($410-$480)
2. Philips HID (5000K) headlight conversion ($450) (currently with Silverstar bulbs)
Which one should I choose for the next upgrade?
Any input or experience would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Thank you very much for all your inputs.
Not a single vote for the Wood steering wheel yet.
Hmmm!!! I guess that it is a simple decision for me now.
Aliga, is that a Philips bulb HID kit for $300? Where can I get that? If you can post the info in here or PM me, it will be great.
Thank you.

Heh! For a second there I thought that was a repost of a picture from my gallary:
I went with the steering wheel but that's because the leather on mine was totally gone. It was only another $80 or to get the wood done. American Stitches quoted me $400 because I asked if they'd honor the group buy. It ended up only being $320 because they had the wheel for 6 weeks. 20% additional off was their way of compensating me. They were very nice.
I replaced all the leather in my interior and a number of trim pieces that were scratched or worn.
Now if the leather on your wheel is in good shape, then of course go with the HIDs. But my question is, what would you go with? Xenondepot? E39 conversions?

Sorka,
I see you are looking for a Xenon upgrade also.
Sorry for using your picture without your permission.
I got the quotation from AmericanStitches for $410. That is the CL members discounted price which is not bad.
I will probably go with Philips 5000K from Xenondepot. It will have little blue in it and will look more like Lexus OEM Xenon.
My friend has Silvania 4100K in his GS. It looked very white and no blue at all.(very little yellow also from the angle)
What is E39 conversions?
I remember that you worried about the cut off line with our existing projectors.
Check out this thread. SC projectors are much better than GS's projector in my opinion when I compared with my friend's GS.

It doesn't look that bad. I can always adjust to lower the beam to make cut off line lower for coming traffic. That is what my friend did and worked out fine.

No problem, but it wasn't my picture Even if it was it would've been fine. It just looks exactly like my car but then I noticed the missing cup holder lid and realized it wasn't mine.
I've been considering xenondepot, but have several concerns:
1) They modify the bulbs(rebase them) so that they project somewhat correctly. However, if you lose a bulb, you have to buy another rebased bulb from them.
2) Nobody has posted picture of the cutoff or beam pattern.
Some have done true hid retrofits from BMW or Audi for not that much more. This includes auto levelers and a projector actually designed for HID.
