Pix of heat shield box
Tre:
Look back in the 2nd page of this thread and you'll find pictures that 933005spd posted of the different colors as well as the box, both with top on and off. Just got mine - looks good - haven't installed yet so can't report any info there - just ordered the MAF and filter so maybe next weekend - good luck!

Hellaboy, AcleanSC4, or any other SC4 owner with one, does the power steering pump goes inside the box or outside box? On my heat shield I constructed it is outside the shield.
935spd, your box is a high quality looking unit. Could you get one made similiar to "Bruce's" with some type of see thru plexiglass type top, to showcase the filters? Does the mesh screen come with box?

CAN DO!
I can't belive the final results! Datapac testing (at 74F) showed that running without the heatshield intake manifold temp exceeded 120F within 15 min at highway speeds, with the heatshield it did not exceed 120 for 30 min at the same speeds. Also, the min temp for the manifold dropped below 100F only with the heatshield in place.
Ikon, the fab shop will do almost anything for a buck. I may order more from them if enough people are interested. One piece would cost well over $100 from them so I need at least 5 people) They do not work plexi, you could get a sheet and dremel it. I have one aluminum heat shield left, first buyer gets it.
Still looking for a good price on my 3" pipe. I'll let you all know when it's ready.

Just got my heat shield! Cool! The black texture will match everything else in the engine perfectly! Now I've gotta wait another few days for my intake so I can actually USE this thing! It's made of nice heavy guage metal, nothing cheap here.
And thanks for the other stuff also, my girlfriend put them in her car.

The RESULTS are in!!!
Thanks for the INFO... Do you have any graphs?
Moderators "STICKY" this thread for a while please... or put it in the Engine/Transmission section so that it will not sink in the ranks of "the old pages"... Plus it is one of those important threads that will benefit the SC forum engine/trans section.... Only if it's okay with you 935spd!!!
That 3 1/2" is expensive, I've looked for some too at a fair price. Have you checked with the "18 wheeler" repair facilities, they have the materials. I did not have any luck in MS or Dallas.

yeah sticky it...
Here is a graph, I ran the no shield first, look at the temps. The engine warms up and effects the charge air very quickly.
IKON your correct about the high cost. I travel alot though and vist job shops and manufacturers all over so I'll find us one soon.

soon tre....
I am placing an order for boxes, ram air units and AFM to intake manifold pipes on Monday. I know the box and ram air will fit the 300 and 400. The pipe will have 1 PCV connection and 1 vacuum line connection, does the 400 have additional needs? Can someone email me a jpeg of the intake feed on the 400? Making up the fab plans I was surprised to see two sound deadeners on the 300 intake.
Ill be out of the US the 10-18 and when I return the parts should all be ready, they will get powdercoated the following week. Kits will be on sale here, my web site click here , and on Ebay no later than July 24.

935spd, I'm curious on your quest to find intake tubing. What has the journey turned up? I and others are waiting anxiously...

tough bend!
So far no performance fab shop can get a 3" to bend so tight. I even asked them if we juggle the filter around and still no luck. I have a lead on a pro welder who may be able to bend, cut and TIG weld pieces together. I will get with him in the next few days, if he can make one I'll have him do it for me and post pics.
I am certain a replacment MAF to Throttle pipe will boost HP another few percent. The heatshield proved to work great.
