hmm, i was quoted a lil over 1k for the timingbelt job, thats including labor the new waterpump, timing belt, and tensioner also thats at a lexus dealer, ya for the headgaskets and ps pump, that sounds ok, u got an sc400 or 300 if its a 400 then 3k is ok because u gotta remove to heads's

How many miles on your car? For that amount I would just get a gently used engine and replace the TB etc then. You don't know if your heads are warped or what else has happened because of the BHG.

Trust me - been there and done it.

Well,

That depends on several things.

1. Are you mid-highly mechanically inclined? If so you could do it yourself.

If not I suggest getting it installed by a reputable shop. The general quote I received was $1000 with an installation warranty - don't remember how long.

However, word for the wise. If you buy a used engine MAKE SURE they did not cut the motor wiring harness as this is an extreme pain in the *** and they will certainly charge you a whole lot more. You will have to remove a lot of stuff to unthread your old harness and put in the new.

Also, make sure you get the right 1UZ - the LS ones have a different fan setup - one of them is hydraulic and the other isn't. Therefore - save yourself the added money.

This is all speaking from experience!!

I have lots of pics of when I did it if you need them
