what's your budget.

so cal ranges from 300 MAACo job to $5K paint jobs. depends on how much you want to spend. You get what you pay for.

dave713,

dont believe your 7-10 yrs estimate on a $1500 paint job is accurate. $1500 paint job from 1-day auto body = 1-2 yrs at best before the clear coat starts to go bye-bye and your paint job looks like *****.

I am in same boat as you, black sc4, after 12 yrs and previous owners painting misc panels of car, doesnt look so sassy as it did in 93. I am planning on checking out M-1 autobody , look them up on web. One guy from this forum had a House of Kolors paint job done and it looked really nice.

remember, two road to go here, the $1500 and below or the $3000 and above, the other posts were right in that you get what you pay for. Decide how long you want to keep car, that will tell you how much to spend.

Lexus factory paint code 202 Black Onyx - Has No Clear Coat. The good thing about having only a color coat is when the paint begins to oxidize - you just have to clay and buff it to revitalize the paint. On my black 95 I have severe bug damage, thanks to the P/O, that has eaten through the color coat entirely in some places - so I need a complete repaint as well. Let us know what you decide on and post some pics after the job is complete.

Yea Black Onyx is nice, and the clearcoat is mixed in with the color coat, rather than being a top layer. Its very durable and pretty deep

IIRC, the 202 black is a variant of PPG's DBC9700/DBU9700 or DuPont G9900 basecoat. The OEM black is a single stage, i would go base/clear.

FWIW, a friend of mine had a van painted at 1day paint and body in the valley for a decent price with some body work, and they did a good job. I believe they are in van nuys.
