When you made CF replacements how did you get the patern? I was thinking of pouring up a mould, but I was wondering how you did it.

Also, did you use pre-impregnated CF or cloth and resin? I have a 5 yard x 1 yard roll of Prepreg that I want to do something with.

Where I work I occasionally do glass and carbon fibre lay ups for jet reversers and flaps and stuff, and we more times than not use an existing product to make a form off of, then we make the part from that. We also make Plaster Face Patterns to make the parts.

Is this similar to what you do? The mould matterial we use is a bit pricey because we put them into a large pressurized chamber that puts tremendous stress on the moulds or tools. We use the bagging technique as well, but it also has to hold a great amount of vaccum for extended amounts of time, which also calls for a sturdy material. So I was curious to know what matterial you use for the mould.

Why do you people imply real as if the carbon fiber I used was fake??? ITS REAL

I paid less than $10 to do this and everyone that see's it in person has said good things about it.. Hope you guys have pockets deep enough to afford the whole mold in carbon fiber.. I'd rather put that money into the engine than some trim pieces

I think that yours looks awesome. I have the means to make CF replacements, since all of my materials are free. If I had a limited supply I would do like you did, it's not like you can tell that there is plastic behind it.
