Default Some Carbon Fiber fun. (Part1)

Well, now that im done with school and all, I just basically do nothing all day except find a job. So I decided to cover the wood trim up in carbon fiber. My friend has a big roll of it so I figure we'll make some use it. Here are some pics of it so far.

The wood we started working on today... (center and driver door pieces)

Passenger side piece that we did on monday

A close up shot

The other piece on the passenger side

Waiting to dry to I can sand and clear coat it

Ready to wrap

All laid out, ready to cut

Wrapped with some fresh resin on it..

More pics to come... I still have to sand down the pieces when they dry and spray some clear coat on them....

are you just using one layer of CF? not in bad way...i'm sure it's enough for trim pieces.

are you letting them sit outside to dry, or are you vacum bagging them?

looks good. I hope they turn out okay.

yea its only one layer. They are drying in my friends shed. We used resin/hardner instead of the other stuff so no need for vacumm drying

Looks beautiful.

I soooo need to do it, but can't bring myself to disassembling all the center pieces.

I hope you plan on changing out your interior color too, those wont blend well with the tan

Looking good though man.

To be announced next week when they go back in.

Honestly, I doubt there will be any problems. Someone on here has done it before and it fit fine. One little layer of CF and some resin shouldnt take up that much room but we'll see. I might actually get the passenger door pieces back in sometime this weekend since we did those on monday.

Matt- that will be coming soon. As you can tell I have alot of time on my hands so I plan on doing whatever is brown, black. Eventually.

interesting carbon fiber weave...

hope you don' thave any problems on the edges, you'll probably be able to sand it out, but the CF tends to harden out flat....

I used vacuum bagging to make these...pure cf...no wrap

How do you get that part off of the car? Specifically the one that sits in front of the passenger above the glovebox? It APPEARS from my limited looking that there is a nut that you can't really get to unless you rip the whole dash apart. Its that the case?

Theres some black tape around the edges of the wood. Under that are little tiny screws that go all around it.
