Default 300 or 400?

i am looking to get an SC pretty quick, probably in the next few weeks. i had my mind set on a 300, however there is a 400 very cheap at a local dealer. i guess my question is that in the long run, whats a better engine? what engine accepts mods the best? i know of 1UZFE heads pushing over 1000hp on boost. im stumped.

if you have the time, resources, and money to boost the 1UZ, then do it... you will be very well known for that. if not, the 2JZ is very mod friendly. happy hunting. and welcome.

Just wait and be patient and you will find the 5spd you are looking for, don't just settle with something else because you found it cheap.

If you used the search then you wouldn't have posted the most asked question on these forums

Nick,

Like others have said there are many threads about this... the key to search is using the right keywords in advanced search. Here are some links I found (among many others) that address your question just by searching for 'which sc300 sc400' and pointing at the SC forum.

There are very few examples of boosted 400's / 1uz and lots more go fast mods for the 2jz. Neither are a bad choice, but IMO you'll have better support going the SC300 route.

If you want a 5spd, you would have to get an SC300, SC400's didn't come with a manual. Of course, there are people that swap transmissions, but that takes work, time, and money. If you want to save yourself the trouble, then the SC300 would be the way to go. There are quite a few SC300 manuals out there, patience pays off.

I'm still trying to make up my mind if I want an sc300 or 400. For me it came down to 5 spd sc300 or sc400. Which ever one I found first that was clean and decently priced. But I've been so picky about the sc400s I've found, I guess it's because I'm really holding out to find a 5 spd.
