Have them tell me what exactly is wrong and go from there. Replaceing the transmission seems a little much for something that a light on the dashboard created. Were you having any problems with the car shifting or anything?
I woulnd't get the Audi if you like the SC, you'll be kicking yourself in the end.

get whichever one is the most mechanically sane. You can always get a paint job later on yes but Lexus paint is not cheap AT ALL! you could also just keep yours now and wait a little longer for another one to show up. Dont let the color be the deciding factor of the car 100% because you want a car thats enjoyable and safe for you to drive even if that requires the color to be different.

Man, good luck with the tranny; I know it's a completely different car, but I had tranny issues with my ES and I learned 2 things; transmission shops are shady, and Lexuses are expensive to work on. I was so happy to get rid of that car, even though I loved it to death before it broke
Oh, and I'd go easy on the mods with a wishy-washy tranny...not to mention it'll void your warranty
