ECT power - driving habbits

It holds gears longer and downshifts quicker. It doesn't put more fuel into the system or anything else. It just changes the shiftpoints.
BTW - I get 20-22mpg av. every tank, mostly highway/rush hour traffic (SC400)

i live in northern NY and i never knew wut it did until my 6hr drive from manhattan to northern NY... so i tested it out.. turned ECT to power and O/D OFF .... boy let me tell ya... on a two lane road... one going the opposite direction... and on a dotted line... i passed about 5 cars at ONCE.. with ECT PWR.. and O/D OFF ... i was flying at abt 120 ... so i think it makes a big difference if u wanna go fast.!!!

No. It won't make any noticeable difference at all if its all highway. The fact that you had ECT ON and O/D off makes no difference in actual acceleration. At those speeds, as soon as you pushed O/D OFF the car automatically downshifts into third gear and won't upshift until you turn O/D back on.

This is the reasoning behind why some people get BETTER gas efficiency with ECT PWR ON...You don't have to push the pedal as far to get the car to downshift and pick up speed quicker when passing and during local driving, because the downshift occurs earlier.

Exactly. I just leave mine on all the time. It's shift points are better suited to my driving.
