Unhappy Help!!!

I did a very stupid thing!!! GggRrr!! Anyways someone please help! I have a Lexus SC400. My trunk latch does not work. It does not do anything. However my gas latch works fine. I had a key that opened the trunk but while I was changing out CD’s I left it in the trunk. Is there another way of getting in the trunk besides going and getting another key made? The dealership is in another city and long distance from me. PLEASE HELP!!!!!

hmm, good luck with this. i know when i was at the junk yard trying to get my wing off of an SC, i needed to get in the trunk, but had to resort to taking my crowbar and prying the edges of the trunk up to get to the latch. but you can't use that method. ya got me.

looks like you're stuck buddy...this time around, have a couple of spare keys made...generic Lexus keys will cost you about $40 to make...

why dont you try jumping the connector for the trunk switch and see if it pops.

when i did this i took out the sub, you can reach right down into the trunk, granted you have to move the liner outta the way to do this, it's kinda difficult to feel around. Gl with this man.

Twirl has a good idea. Remove the sub woofer, it lets you into the trunk just above the Fuel tank. Take a stick or a bat or something and hit that trunk liner until it pops off. If you dropped your keys in near the stock CD changer, then get some magnets and attach them to the end of a clothes hanger or something and reach around back there. Use a relatively powerful flashlight to see inside. With any luck you can hook the keys and pull them out carefully! Be careful to know that the keys are not directly under the liner so that when you pop it out it doesn't cover up your keys!

LOL. You've obviously never removed your back seat!

But the subwoofer hole and magnet poke and hope is going to be your best bet if you are too cheap to go buy a spare key that you should own anyways. Honestly. Who doesn't have a spare key?

I think he's saying the electronic trunk release doesn't open the trunk anymore only a key in the hole does. I have a friend who's car did this so it creates a problem.

Default Trunk Problem

Well, I have never had rhis problem, but when I bought my SC400, I was only given the key with the remote and a valet key. I ordered a remoteless master via the following thread:: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=161525
It was $33.00 with the discount, delivered. They needed the vin to cut the key. It took about a week to get it to me. I'll bet that if you called them, using the discount code that they would expedite the key for you.

Also, it sticks in my mind (I should go to my trunk and look) that there is a quick release in the trunk. This is in case someone is accidently locked in there. It is a T shaped handle on the right side of the trunk, just above the cd-changer. If you can't get the key through the backseat, perhaps you can snag this handle. (it is to the left if you go in via the back seat)
Good Luck

I just went and looked. There is a plastic T handle just above the cd-changer that manually opens the trunk

that plastic T-handle is a release for the fuel door, not trunk, it even has gas pump logo on it
