Default Thinking of mismatching wheel sizes.

I am thinking of picking up some 19"X9" in rear and some 18"X8.5" in front and my question is how would that look on an SC400 that has not been lowered? any pics? I'm new so hang in there with me thanks!

Welcome to CL, and for future reference, STAGGERED = BETTER!

It doesn't matter on a stock suspension or not, Staggered will still look better. My SSR's are staggered, and when they are on, even with my stock suspension, it looks

I know, He's asking how staggered rims will look on a stock suspension SC400.

I gave my opinion, that staggered is always better

Sorry if that was unclear

Staggered wheel width for power and to fill out the wheel well is nice. I'm not as into the staggered rim size, especially since the SC is not made for that. In order to keep the look uniform (same or similar sidewall), the outside diameters of the front and rear will be different which in turn makes the rolling diameter different. This will more than likely throw off the ABS system since at a certain speed, the wheels will rotate at different rates due to the different diameters.

I know people here have done it and like it. I am probably more cautious than others so I have to have form and function. There are those who like to push the visual envelop and as long as they know and accept the potential risks, power to them for doing what they like with their car.

I have never had this problem on my SC with my staggered wheels, nor have I ever HEARD of this problem on the SC. Most guys on here run a staggered set up with no issues at all.

I would recomend 8.5 up front and 9.5 or 10 in the rear depending on the offset of the rear wheel.

From what I can tell, you are running 19x8.5 and 19x9.5. you are running staggered widths. With the appropriate tire sizes, you can have the sidewalls matching pretty well and the outside diameter the same (or very close).

What TRD_Power is asking is running 18s in front and 19s in the rear. This setup introduces some sizing issues. Staggered widths are fine. I am running 20x8.5 and 20x10 so I have staggered widths too.

Ahh- I did see his little bit at the end about that- but must have not realized thats what you were chatting about- sorry...

This two shouldn't be a huge issue? What do Vettes do from the factory to fix this?

just try to get the overall diameter of the wheel and tire to be as close as possible between the front and rear and youll be ok. whether its staggered rim size or staggered with

The electronics on the Vettes are expecting the difference and is calibrated for that. Unfortunately, the Lexus is not.

This is a true general statement. Since TRD_Power seemed to be interested in the visual aspect, I think this solution would not look good and did not suggest it. To get the diameters right, the front sidewalls will be taller than the rear. It will look a bit lopsided.

Those sizes will more than likely look silly. I would suggest 18x9 and 19x10... it will look much better especially if you take some time and figure out what offset you like best.
