Is paying 17K for a SC300 too much? I see some SCs for around 10, 12k but they're like '92. And the one I was looking at is a '98 and the condition was in pretty good shape when I wwent to look at it. It has about 70k miles too so its not that much compared to how much some of you guys have. The cars gonna be driven to school everyday so it really needs to be reliable but I read that thats not much of a concern since these cars can go over 200K+ miles...
Kinda need help deciding if I should go with this SC or I should just look for another one. I really like this one too...

not that im an expert or anything... but seeing as a just finished my searched for an SC... 17k is too much for a 98 with 70k. where is kali are you from? theres so many out here to choose from... they have four at the dealership i got mines from... you should look at the Taupe one they have... its a 97 with 80k for 14,000... save the 3 grand and get some rims for it.

just my 0.02 cents!

You might want to do some research with the Kelly Blue Book online. Traders has another research that could help determine the value too. Be sure you ask for all the service records. If these cars do not get there regular service, watch out! 17,000 miles is less than a years worth of the "average mileage" driven. Pay the 30.00 bucks for a CARFAX report to see that the odometer has not been messed with.It is well worth it!
Hope this helpes.

The car is $17k and has 70K for a '98. For being a '98 that's approx 10k a year give or take a little bit, which isn't bad. But unless it's pristine...then $17k is a little steep. Take you time and do the research, and always remember "patience is a virtue"

for 17k.. you can get a 92 for 5k and have 12k in mods..

so lets say you have 12 k to play around with..

you can get a 97 conversion for lets say 1.5k.. and then you can get fresh respray for 2.5k, thats 4 k right there..

now you have 8k to play around with..
go for a 1jz motor swap with 50k miles on the motor and now your down another 4k..

you still have 4k to play with.. but you have a 97-00 looking car with fresh paint and a 1jz motor in it..

spend the rest on some nice wheels and suspension and your done.

You getting from a Dealer or Private party. If Dealer is there Tax and adds onto it ? If private party I would say way too much. Sometimes you'll like it then the Min you buy it next week one for $3500 less in better condition will show up. Also I would never buy a Lexus Unless I had A good Lexus Dealer Shop go over it. You can have 4 or $5000 in things wrong with it easly. Also a check out 1st help's you with Negociating better if you can show them it's not PERFECT and I assure you there's going to be some things wrong. Good Luck and Be Patience. !

And after all that some dumbass runs into your car and totals it and the insurance company gives you 5k. Unless you get some suplemental insurance, puting 12k in mods into a car with such little value is pretty risky (not saying that I'm not doing the same myself ).

Only if he is not Financing it and is paying cash. This will not work if he's taking a loan. Which BTW Finacing 17K + will put you paying back a total for the car of 20K plus +
