After watching fast and furious, me and some friends were joking about racing and stuff like that. I said I could blow them all away in my 93 sc400, but my friend who dries a 99 stock civic, thinks it would be a close match. I laughed at him even more, when he said he could beat me with his old car which was a 99 mustang base model (dont know why he got rid of the mustang and got the civic, i guess he thought he would be cool with a rice burner,lol). Anyway, without regard to driving skills, would he have any chance? We're not really going to race, it was just all talk.
And one more thing, what is the MSRP on a 1993 SC400 with all options when it was new. My dad said he bought it around 65g's and some people didnt even believe me. Anyway, thanks for any replys, peace

uhh, he would not stand a chance.
your 93 sc300 does the 1/4 in about 15.4 seconds
the fastest civic that honda made in 99 was the Si, and it runs 15.7 in the 1/4... if he doesnt have the civic Si, the next 'best' civic is the EX, it runs like 16.5 in the 1/4.

There is absolutley no way a little 4-banger Honda is gonna beat an SC. Sorry to say but Im so sick of all these kids who know nothing about cars thinking their Hondas run like 11's. Im not a fan of street racing at all, but about a week ago I tore up a Civic with exhaust, chip, and intake in my stock SC4000. It put a smile on my face...
Good kill. I love puttin lil Hondas in their place...behind me.

I'm from OC...the place where all or most of the cars from "The Fast and The Furious" came from.
I will admit that some 4-bangers are crazy!!
Others (most) are just full of ****...I'm not defending anyone here but i'm just facing reality. A couple of my friends have 11/12 second cars and I know I wouldn't be able to beat them.

Shaft – Your friends just don’t know – IMO, they might jump out on you – I’ve never felt the 400 was good off the line - but in a couple of car lengths, when the 400 starts making horsepower, you’ll have them for lunch (provided they don’t run a ringer on you).
As far as the 65k figure goes – it’s way high. I’ve got a Car and Driver test of the ’93 SC4 and it shows the base price of $42,980 and an “as tested” price of $46,976. As other “evidence”, I’ve still got the sticker for my ’92 SC4 and it shows 41,660 with every option except Nak. I’m sure it’s an honest error in memory – it probably seemed like 65k at the time.

no civic will stand a chance against an sc 300 or 400 (unless they put like 10k under the hood)
my sc seems pretty slow off the line but DAMN once you get past first gear you will smoke 98% of the cars out there

A stock Integra Type R will smoke a stock SC400.
A Civic Si with a header and air intake will probably do the same.
They might underestimate the Lexus cars due to ignorance, but don't underestimate them either.

SC4 vs. Tpye-R.....SC4
Double...correct me if i am wrong, but i believe the 00 SC400 would beat the 00 Type-R hands down 0-60 and 1/4 mile times.

Regurgitating magazine data is not really relevant to the real world. It might be good for doing some comparisons, but in the real world it's not very good information. Just like everyone else here, I LOVE my Lexuses and all, but...
If you've ever been to a real racetrack you'd not disagree...Type R's are FAST off the showroom floor. They normally run 14.80-15.20 with people that don't even know how to drive very well.
The SC's are absolute dogs off the line, especially at low rpm, which is where ET is made. The MPH would probably be similar between the two cars, but a lightweight manual car vs a hopelessly sluggish heavy car isn't much of a matchup. The best I got out of a bone stock one was 15.80. The mph was good though, around 90 or 91 as I recall. I believe the Integras are a 92-93 mph car though.
From a roll you might stand a chance, on the freeway at high speeds the Lexus would probably win. Top speed, Lexus all the way.
At the dragstrip...not good

Do you happen to know the year SC400 that those numbers were from? From 92-95 they had 250hp/260tq, in 96 they got the upgraded engine to 260hp/270tq and in 98 they went to 290hp/290tq.
The LS400 got the 260hp engine in 95 and coupled with a slightly lighter weight dropped a better than expected 1 full second off 0-60mph and the 1/4 mile.
