Being that many people wreck their first car, please don't buy a 5 speed.

They are already too rare as it is.

Happy Birthday.

As rare as 5-speeds are, you can get them pretty cheap in North Carolina. The dealership I got mine from was almost giving it away. They said that they had that same car traded in twice to them. First owner drove it about 4k miles per year. Second owner kept it for only a month, then brought it back because she wanted an automatic tranny.

So it only had 51k miles on it, and they were GLAD to give me a deal. (and of course I used the..."well I would like an automatic, but I guess I can stand a manual" routine to get the price down).

Look around at some of the luxury car dealers, especially BMW. From my looking, I've found a majority of the 5-speeds at the Bimmer place.

Hey man....i remember turning 16 (im still 16 ...my bday is on Aug.9). Dont listen to them about wrecking ur 1st car. I know when my dad gave me the 92 SC A/T, I was/am determined never to wreck it. If u really want to keep ur car (like i do) u wont wreck it. I have had a kid bump me from behind at a stop light, but it was his fault. Just look out for other drivers when u r drivin b/c they probably dont give a rats a$$ about their cars. Also, dont worry bout gettin the 5 speed. My dad was going to give me a 91 Celica GT-S 5 spd (the best and only good looking Celica ever made) and i loved driving it. If ur not used to a M/T, then just go to an open parking lot (i went to the local public highschool...which is where i still take my car and race around) and drove there for a few days. Well anyways...sorry for the long post. Happy 16 man and post pics of whateva u get.
